The fun, casual catchup is back! RUFF (R U Free Friday?) is a casual meetup once a month at a local bar. There’s no cost (other than your drinks, but GAJET donations are always greatfully accepted!)

Gunma Games
Gunma Games is the ultimate 運動会 experience for all ALTs, CIRs, and foreign residents living in Gunma Prefecture. The day consists of various challenges, events, and games where you will compete to win points for your team. You do not have to be an athlete to compete however – there are plenty of events to go around. The team with the most points will win the ultimate prize – THE GOLDEN CABBAGE! 🏆 To find out more, check out the event page.
Numata Fireworks
Enjoy some of the last summer fireworks before things start to cool down. This takes place in the evening after the Gunma Games GAJET event, so it’s the perfect way to finish the day with some festival food and gorgeous fireworks. There is a free viewing area this year, but spots are limited. The organisers are advising everyone to get there by 18:30 as admission will be restricted depending on crowd size. Tenjin Lodge
Join Gunma JETs from all over the prefecture in gorgeous Minakami for a fun overnight stay filled with nature walks, BBQ and fellowship. This event promises to be a great time out for everyone, and a perfect opportunity to meet other JETs if you’ve just arrived in Gunma! Sign ups in advance are necessary. Fox Wedding Procession
Every year at Misato Fureai Park, there is a fox wedding procession. Single women paint themselves like foxes and participate in a wedding procession just like the folklore belief that a sunshower is caused by a “fox wedding”. To find out more, check out the website. RUFF
