This September's will be held on September 22nd @6pm!

🍻This month, we will meet at the Red Lion in Takasaki, but to make it more interesting, we are gonna do a book swap! 📚

📚Looking for a new read? Finding it hard to find English books in Japan? Is there a book that's just sitting on the shelf that you've been planning to donate? WE HAVE A SOLUTION. Bring a book you've read/want to give a new home to RUFF and swap it with someone else! Simple.

*You must bring a book to get a book.

🍻The book swap is optional. If you just want to come out for a cold one after work, please still come and join!

🍻📚So come on out, let off some steam after our first month back at work and possibly leave with a new book!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday. I hope you guys are well rested after throwing cabbages everywhere.

It’s our first one since the pandemic times, where we all get together and chat over some drinks! You don’t need to drink any alcohol to join either, it’s just a little relaxed get together for all us ALT’s before the weekend!

(there is free parking available at the park).

COST: We ask for a ¥300 donation to help support out volunteer organization. If you'd like to make a donation, please find one of the event hosts at the event.

It’s that time of the year where us ALTs look upon our students during their epic sports day. GAJET presents our own sports day, GUNMA GAMES!

What is Gunma Games? Gunma Games is the ultimate 運動会 experience open to all ALTs, CIRs, and foreign residents living in Gunma Prefecture. The day consists of various challenges, events, and games where you will compete to win points for your team. You do not have to be an athlete to compete - there are plenty of events to go around. The team with the most points will win the ultimate prize - THE GOLDEN CABBAGE!

The four teams are Haruna, Myogi, Akagi, and Asama. This year's teams will chosen at random. We will be revealing the teams a few days before the event starts.

PLEASE TRY TO WEAR YOUR TEAM'S COLOUR IF POSSIBLE.
Haruna is blue 🔵
Myogi is yellow 🟡
Akagi is red 🔴
Asama is white ⚪️

You do not have to compete to attend! Gunma Games is an all-inclusive, friendly competition with a variety of rounds (including tossing cabbages, trivia, races, and more). There is something for everyone. If you have any friends, family, or acquaintances who want to come and cheer everyone on, they are more than welcome to join as well!

It’s time for some more summer festival firework

It’s time for some more summer festival fireworks! 🎆🎇🎆🎇

Takasaki has one of the best firework shows in Gunma. Come join new and old JETs as we spend the evening gazing at 15,000 fireworks!

When: August 26th, (fireworks start at 7:30 and end at 8:20 but feel free to join before the show to chat and relax!)

Where: East field of Wada Bashi bridge

(By Wada bashi bridge, there is a massive soccer field where there is free viewing for the fireworks available. There may or may not be parking as many others will be coming as well so we suggest coming early by foot and train. Location is about a 20 minute walk from Takasaki station)

Our GAJET team will secure a spot for us, so feel free to come earlier or closer to the time of the firework show.

There is no cost for this event, but we do appreciate any donations to GAJET so we can continue to make awesome events for you!

***CAUTION*** PLEASE TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU. Do not leave it behind for GAJET or other kind souls to clean. There aren’t any trashcans (what a surprise) but there is a local lawson not too far from the field where you can throw your trash at later!

What a great night! Hope all those who are moving on to their next stages of life had a great time drinking, eating and chatting with their fellow JETs at their farewell beer garden! Hopefully this won’t be a final goodbye, but only a “see you!” Good luck to you all!
