Hello everyone! Following on from the September hike in Tomioka, we’re going to be reaching the summit of one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. Takasaki’s very own Mount Haruna!
Our route is shorter than 2 miles but features over 1,200ft of elevation gain, so it’s pretty steep. No technical ability is required, but some amount of physical fitness is recommended. The trail will feature uneven terrain due to rocks and tree roots.
Alternatively you might choose to take a leisurely (and flat) stroll around Lake Haruna, and ride the ropeway to the summit of Haruna Fuji. This option may not have a GAJET member leading it.
There are several different parking lots around Lake Haruna. We’ll be meeting at the one linked above, but if it’s full there are options nearby. Carpooling is still recommended where practical.
After the hike we can pay a visit to Haruna Shrine, which is only a short drive away, and we’ll have the option to stop at this onsen on the shore of Lake Haruna.
