What is GAJET?
An Event Organiser
GAJET plans local events like meetups, cultural trips, seasonal parties, and charity drives to help JETs engage with each other and their community.
A Source of Information
GAJET helps keep JETs informed with monthly newsletters, and guides about life, work, and events in the region.
A Leadership Opportunity
GAJET provides JETs with chances to build skills in event planning, communication, and leadership by joining the team.
Skillset
While each position at GAJET has its own responsibilities and skills needed, some general skills and abilities needed for any role include;

Executive Committee
The Executive Team oversees the direction, planning, and administration of GAJET. They make key decisions, manage communications, and ensure smooth coordination.
President
Role: Leader and primary representative of GAJET.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all GAJET activities and meetings
- Delegate tasks and ensure a cohesive team
- Liaise with other AJET chapters and National AJET when necessary
- Set agendas and chair meetings

Vice President
Role: Support for the President and team; assumes leadership when the President is unavailable.

Secretary
Role: Organisational backbone of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Take and distribute meeting minutes
- Maintain and update GAJET calendar
- Maintain records (event planning docs, meeting minutes, event write-ups etc)
- Send reminders or updates to the team
- Manages GAJET Google Drive

Treasurer
Role: Manages GAJET’s finances.
Responsibilities:

- Prepare budgets for events
- Handle reimbursements
- Collect event fees
- Provide financial reports to the team

Operational Team
The Operational Team handles GAJET’s day-to-day outreach, content, and social media presence. They keep members informed, engaged, and connected through various platforms.
Social Media Manager
Role: Handles public communication via social platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Manage GAJET’s Instagram page
- Manage Gunma ALT Facebook page
- Design posts to promote events, share updates, and build community.
- Respond to messages on social media
- Coordinate with Website Administrator and Editor for consistent branding
- Managing the photo contest
- Creating links and documents for uploads

Moderator
Role: Ensures safe, and respectful online spaces.
Responsibilities:
- Moderate GAJET Discord
- Moderate the Gunma Buy/Sell/Swap Facebook page
- Enforce community rules and addresses inappropriate behavior
- Manage member requests and post approvals

Role: Maintains GAJET’s website.

- Fix bugs or broken links
- Work with Social Media Manager and Editor on content updates
- Ensure accessibility and mobile-friendliness
- Create and curate content/articles for the website
- Ideally has experience with hosting platforms,Wordpress, HTML,CSS, FTP

Editor
Role: Creates and edits written content.

Regional Representitives
The Regional Representatives serve as local points of contact across Gunma. They advocate for JETs in their areas, support community-building, and ensure everyone stays included in events and initiatives.
Regional Representitive
Role: Act as the voice and liaison for JETs in specific areas (ie. Hokumō, Tōmō, Chūmō, Seimō)
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with local JETs to gather feedback and promote events
- Help organise regional meetups and activities
- Represent regional needs in GAJET meetings
- Serve as a local point of contact for new JETs
