SUMMARY:Tenjin Lodge 2024
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for our Tenjin Lodge ALT retreat again\, and this time it’s going to be spooky! \n\n\n\nJust like last year\, we will be holding an overnight retreat at Tenjin Lodge in Minakami\, run by the wonderful Kieren and Bo. We’ll have a BBQ dinner and the bar will be open for drinks\, or you can bring your own. There will be karaoke\, some photo props\, food\, drinks and games to play. \n\n\n\nSign up here! \n\n\n\nThe price breakdown is as follows: \n\n\n\n\nGAJET Fee: ¥500\n\n\n\nAccommodation: ¥6\,000\n\n\n\nBBQ Dinner: ¥2\,500 (vegetarian option available on prior request)\n\n\n\nBreakfast: ¥1\,500\n\n\n\nBYO Corkage: ¥1\,000\n\n\n\n\nThe only compulsory fees are the accommodation and GAJET fee\, if you don’t want to have the BBQ Dinner\, or you want to bring your own breakfast for the next morning\, that’s fine. If you want to bring your own drinks\, there’s a fee\, and the bar will be open for drinks at the venue. \n\n\n\nCostumes are highly encouraged! \n\n\n\nGames and activities for the evening include the evening BBQ\, an excursion to the nearby Doai Station (the deepest underground station in Japan with a creepy Silent Hill silhouette and a long climb down to the platform)\, karaoke\, board games (Cards Against Humanity etc)\, drinking games (ping pong balls provided)\, and a Halloween picture stand so you can show off your cool costumes. Some people also like to bring their Nintendo Switches\, so if you want to duke it out in Smash Bros. or race to the finish in Mario Kart\, bring yours along! \n\n\n\nThe world-famous Takaragawa Onsen is a short distance away\, so if you’re stuck for ideas after check-out\, a soak in the beautiful waters of Minakami is a great option.

SUMMARY:Coco Winery 2024
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Coco Farm and Winery hosts its beloved Harvest Festival\, where guests can enjoy the winery’s carefully crafted wines while soaking in live music. GAJET is hosting a meetup at the event on the 17th so you can hang out with other ALTs and celebrate the season’s bounty as we roll into winter. Signups are open until November 14th and are done through their website. \nParking is limited and requires reservations\, so the best way to get there is to use public transport\, including shuttle busses from either JR Ashikaga Station (JR Ryomo Line) or Tobu Ashikaga-shi Station (Tobu Isesaki Line). The shuttle bus is ¥1\,500 for a round trip with the final return bus at 16:30. If you’d like to stretch your legs\, it’s about an hour’s walk from the station to the winery. \nThis year’s live entertainment includes Shuhei Takezawa (violoncellist)\, Saigenji (guitarist)\, Iwao Furusawa (violinist)\, Akira Sakata (saxophonist) and more. \nCoco Farm and Winery was founded in 1958 as a project by a local junior high school. The students and teachers created a space where people with intellectual disabilities could demonstrate and learn skills. In 1969 the project was expanded with the creation of Kokoromi Gakuen near the winery\, to support adults living with learning disabilities. \nSince then\, the winery has provided wine to toast the 2020 G8 meeting in Okinawa\, the Kyushu-Okinawa Summit\, a welcome dinner for British Prime Minister Theresa May\, and a luncheon at the Apostolic Nunciature. \nThey now operate five vineyards across Tochigi with additional partnerships across Japan\, proud to be creating wine made with 100% Japanese grapes.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an outdoor adventure as we celebrate Thanksgiving with a hike through one of Gunma’s beautiful trails! This event is open to all JETs in the area looking to get some fresh air\, enjoy the scenic views\, and bond with other ALTs in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All skill levels are welcome. The exact trail is still to be confirmed\, but we’ll choose one that suits a range of abilities\, and hopefully has some lovely autumn colours. \nWe’re planning for a lunch halfway through the hike\, so bring your lunch\, a good pair of shoes\, and your best trail spirit for a memorable Thanksgiving in the great outdoors.
