Gunma Games is the ultimate 運動会 experience for all ALTs\, CIRs\, and foreign residents living in Gunma Prefecture. The day consists of various challenges\, events\, and games where you will compete to win points for your team. You do not have to be an athlete to compete however  – there are plenty of events to go around. The team with the most points will win the ultimate prize – THE GOLDEN CABBAGE! 🏆 \nThe four teams are Haruna\, Myogi\, Akagi\, and Asama. This year’s teams will chosen at random. We will be revealing the teams a few days before the event starts. PLEASE TRY TO WEAR YOUR TEAM’S COLOUR IF POSSIBLE.\nHaruna is blue 💙\nMyogi is yellow 💛\nAkagi is red ❤️\nAsama is white 🤍 \nYou do not have to compete to attend! Gunma Games is an all-inclusive\, friendly competition with a variety of rounds (including throwing cabbages\, trivia\, races\, and more). There is something for everyone. If you have any friends\, family\, or acquaintances who want to come and cheer everyone on\, they are more than welcome to join as well. \nWe ask for a ¥300 donation to help support our volunteer organisation. DESCRIPTION:It’s time for some more summer festival fireworks! 🎆🎇🎆🎇 \nThis year marks the 49th anniversary of the Takasaki Summer Festival\, an event which includes dashi floats\, portable shrines\, giant daruma and fireworks. \nTakasaki has one of the best fireworks shows in Gunma. Come join new and old JETs as we spend the evening gazing at 15\,000 fireworks! \nFireworks start at 7:30 and end at 8:20 but feel free to join before the show to chat and relax! \nBy Wadabashi bridge\, there is a massive soccer field where there is free viewing for the fireworks available. There may or may not be parking\, as many others will be coming as well\, so we suggest coming early by foot and train. Location is about a 20 minute walk from Takasaki Station. \nOur GAJET team will secure a spot for us\, so feel free to come earlier or closer to the time of the firework show. \nThere is no cost for this event\, but we do appreciate any donations to GAJET so we can continue to make awesome events for you! \nCAUTION: PLEASE TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU. Do not leave it behind for GAJET or other kind souls to clean. There aren’t any trashcans (what a surprise) but there is a local Lawson not too far from the field where you can throw your trash later! \nCan’t wait to see you there!

DESCRIPTION:IT’S FESTIVAL SEASON! Our loved Numata festival is coming back this August 3rd til 5th. Anyone is welcome to Join us. There will be Floats\, Tengu Mikoshi\, Sennin Odori dancers\, food and more! If the ladies are interested there is sign ups for carrying the Tengu mask here. \nThe festival is held in central Numata\, about a 15 minute walk from Numata Station on the JR Joetsu Line. By car\, it’s about 10 minutes from the Numata Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway. If you plan on driving there is a list of available parking spaces here. \nA small ¥100 donation for future GAJET events would be greatly appreciated!

DESCRIPTION:The Shibukawa Belly Button Festival has been held since 1984 with “Japan’s Bellybutton” as the theme\, because Shibukawa City is located in the center of the Japanese islands. \nParticipants draw a face over their belly button\, dance and parade through the streets. \nIf you arrive in Shibukawa City by train\, you can walk straight up one of the streets to arrive at the intersection where the festival will be held.

DESCRIPTION:Want something spooky this summer? If you’re up for taking a trip to Ota\, 群ぐん馬まこどもの国くに公こう園えん (Gunma Kodomonokuni Park) is holding a haunted house from July 29th to August 27th. Advertised as fun for all ages! \nThere will be a “ghost maze” made from cardboard for the small kiddies and a traditional “Obake Yashiki” for the brave. There is also a “non-scary time” from 11:00-11:30 where the entire venue has its lights turned on for anyone who is scared of the dark. \nThe haunted house is open from 09:20am to 4:30pm\, and closed from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
