DESCRIPTION:Signup Form Here! \nHello everyone! GAJET’s first hike of the year will be the Kannari Hiking Trail in Tomioka! \nThis beginner friendly round trip hike is approximately 4 miles long\, and features minimal elevation gain of less than 800ft. Following the hike we’ll also be paying a visit to the Gunma Museum of Natural History for those that would like to see some ancient fossils and dinosaur skeletons. \nOur meeting spot if the parking lot linked below. It’s very small so if carpooling is possible it is strongly encouraged. For those travelling by train the parking lot is less than a 1km walk from Kanohara station on the Joshin Dentetsu. Please arrive at the parking lot for 8:30am\, it’s going to be a hot one so we should start early to avoid the peak temperatures. \nEntry to the museum is 1\,000円 and there will be a special exhibition open. The museum is not conveniently located for access via public transport. I’ll have seats available in my car and it would be great if other drivers could offer lifts. Following on from the September hike in Tomioka\, we’re going to be reaching the summit of one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. Takasaki’s very own Mount Haruna! \nOur route is shorter than 2 miles but features over 1\,200ft of elevation gain\, so it’s pretty steep. No technical ability is required\, but some amount of physical fitness is recommended. The trail will feature uneven terrain due to rocks and tree roots. \nAlternatively you might choose to take a leisurely (and flat) stroll around Lake Haruna\, and ride the ropeway to the summit of Haruna Fuji. This option may not have a GAJET member leading it. \nThere are several different parking lots around Lake Haruna. We’ll be meeting at the one linked above\, but if it’s full there are options nearby. Carpooling is still recommended where practical. \nAfter the hike we can pay a visit to Haruna Shrine\, which is only a short drive away\, and we’ll have the option to stop at this onsen on the shore of Lake Haruna.

DESCRIPTION:Gunma’s one and only pro volleyball team\, the Gunma Green Wings\, have their opening home matches on October 18th and 19th at Yamato Gymnasium in Maebashi. The match starts at 13:05 but it is ideal to meet and enter together at 12:15 because parking can fill up quickly. SUMMARY:Coco Winery 2025
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Coco Farm and Winery hosts the famous Harvest Festival\, where guests can enjoy the their carefully crafted wines while soaking in live music. GAJET is hosting a meetup at the event on the 15th so you can hang out with other ALTs and celebrate the season’s bounty as we roll into winter. Signups are open until November 13th and are done through their website. \nParking is limited and requires reservations\, so the best way to get there is to use public transport\, including shuttle busses from either JR Ashikaga Station (JR Ryomo Line) or Tobu Ashikaga-shi Station (Tobu Isesaki Line). The shuttle bus is ¥1\,500 for a round trip with the final return bus at 16:30. If you’d like to stretch your legs\, it’s about an hour’s walk from the station to the winery. \nThis year’s live entertainment is yet to be announced. \nGrab your tickets here!
