SUMMARY:Coco Winery 2025
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Coco Farm and Winery hosts the famous Harvest Festival\, where guests can enjoy the their carefully crafted wines while soaking in live music. GAJET is hosting a meetup at the event on the 15th so you can hang out with other ALTs and celebrate the season’s bounty as we roll into winter. Signups are open until November 13th and are done through their website. \nParking is limited and requires reservations\, so the best way to get there is to use public transport\, including shuttle busses from either JR Ashikaga Station (JR Ryomo Line) or Tobu Ashikaga-shi Station (Tobu Isesaki Line). The shuttle bus is ¥1\,500 for a round trip with the final return bus at 16:30. If you’d like to stretch your legs\, it’s about an hour’s walk from the station to the winery. \nThis year’s live entertainment is yet to be announced. \nGrab your tickets here!

Following on from the September hike in Tomioka\, we’re going to be reaching the summit of one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. Takasaki’s very own Mount Haruna! \nOur route is shorter than 2 miles but features over 1\,200ft of elevation gain\, so it’s pretty steep. No technical ability is required\, but some amount of physical fitness is recommended. The trail will feature uneven terrain due to rocks and tree roots. \nAlternatively you might choose to take a leisurely (and flat) stroll around Lake Haruna\, and ride the ropeway to the summit of Haruna Fuji. This option may not have a GAJET member leading it. \nThere are several different parking lots around Lake Haruna. We’ll be meeting at the one linked above\, but if it’s full there are options nearby. Carpooling is still recommended where practical. \nAfter the hike we can pay a visit to Haruna Shrine\, which is only a short drive away\, and we’ll have the option to stop at this onsen on the shore of Lake Haruna.

DESCRIPTION:Signup Form Here! \nHello everyone! GAJET’s first hike of the year will be the Kannari Hiking Trail in Tomioka! \nThis beginner friendly round trip hike is approximately 4 miles long\, and features minimal elevation gain of less than 800ft. Following the hike we’ll also be paying a visit to the Gunma Museum of Natural History for those that would like to see some ancient fossils and dinosaur skeletons. \nOur meeting spot if the parking lot linked below. It’s very small so if carpooling is possible it is strongly encouraged. For those travelling by train the parking lot is less than a 1km walk from Kanohara station on the Joshin Dentetsu. Please arrive at the parking lot for 8:30am\, it’s going to be a hot one so we should start early to avoid the peak temperatures. \nEntry to the museum is 1\,000円 and there will be a special exhibition open. The museum is not conveniently located for access via public transport. I’ll have seats available in my car and it would be great if other drivers could offer lifts. Some people also like to bring their Nintendo Switches\, so if you want to duke it out in Smash Bros. or race to the finish in Mario Kart\, bring yours along! \n\n\n\nThe world-famous Takaragawa Onsen is a short distance away\, so if you’re stuck for ideas after check-out\, a soak in the beautiful waters of Minakami is a great option.

This 4.0-km out-and-back trail\, located near Kitasaku\, Nagano\, offers stunning views and a moderately challenging adventure. The hike takes approximately 2 hours and rises about 250m to the summit at 1655m above sea-level. The team with the most points will win the ultimate prize – THE GOLDEN CABBAGE! 🏆 \nThe four teams are Haruna\, Myogi\, Akagi\, and Asama. This year’s teams will chosen at random. We will be revealing the teams a few days before the event starts. DESCRIPTION:It’s time for some more summer festival fireworks! 🎆🎇🎆🎇 \nThis year marks the 49th anniversary of the Takasaki Summer Festival\, an event which includes dashi floats\, portable shrines\, giant daruma and fireworks. \nTakasaki has one of the best fireworks shows in Gunma. Come join new and old JETs as we spend the evening gazing at 15\,000 fireworks! \nFireworks start at 7:30 and end at 8:20 but feel free to join before the show to chat and relax! \nBy Wadabashi bridge\, there is a massive soccer field where there is free viewing for the fireworks available. There may or may not be parking\, as many others will be coming as well\, so we suggest coming early by foot and train. Location is about a 20 minute walk from Takasaki Station. \nOur GAJET team will secure a spot for us\, so feel free to come earlier or closer to the time of the firework show. \nThere is no cost for this event\, but we do appreciate any donations to GAJET so we can continue to make awesome events for you! \nCAUTION: PLEASE TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU. Do not leave it behind for GAJET or other kind souls to clean. There aren’t any trashcans (what a surprise) but there is a local Lawson not too far from the field where you can throw your trash later! \nCan’t wait to see you there!

There will be Floats\, Tengu Mikoshi\, Sennin Odori dancers\, food and more! If the ladies are interested there is sign ups for carrying the Tengu mask here. \nThe festival is held in central Numata\, about a 15 minute walk from Numata Station on the JR Joetsu Line. By car\, it’s about 10 minutes from the Numata Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway. If you plan on driving there is a list of available parking spaces here. \nA small ¥100 donation for future GAJET events would be greatly appreciated!
