Tsukiyono - 月夜野町

Location Description:

Tsukiyono literally means 'moonlit night field.' It is another of the towns nestled in the mountains of northern Gunma.

Festivals in Tsukiyono:

Mozaemon Fetival

Yassa Festival - at Wakamiya Hachiman Shrine in Tsukiyono. In the evening starting at 7:30 p.m., loin-clothed youths snake around the shrine compound chanting and try to climb up the rope attached to the shrine bells. The event lasts until 9 p.m.

Firefly Festival - 蛍祭り(Hotaru Matsuri)

Things in Tsukiyono:

Jomo Kogen Station - The Shinkansen station for the Tone-Numata area. You can get to Tokyo in about 1hr 10min for 5000 yen one-way. Follow Rt 61 north through Tsukiyono. Turn left at the first set of traffic lights past Cainz Home. Or take Rt.17 past Tsukiyono IC exit, pass 7-11, turn right at the light by Jomo gasx station.

Yaze Shinsui Park - Found just off Rt. 61, down the hill from Jomo Kogen Station. It has a collection of re-constructed buildings from the Jomon Period. It's also a nice place for barbecues and picnics in the summer. Once a year in August, the Yaze Jomon Festival is held here.
